Taylor Mill contracts with Republic Services for all trash and recycling within city limits. Residents are provided with one free 95-gallon or 65-gallon trash cart and one free 65-gallon recycling cart. Additional carts are available for a monthly fee. The fee for regular weekly trash and recycling pickup is included in property taxes.

The Taylor Mill Commission meets the second Wednesday of each month beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Commission Chambers at the City Building, 5225 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY 41015.

All required building, zoning, electrical and home occupation permits in Taylor Mill are handled by Planning Development Services of Kenton County (PDS). PDS is a “One Stop Shop” agency staffed by professional planners and building officials that provides comprehensive building and zoning services under one roof.

An occupational license is needed to operate a business in Taylor Mill. Occupational licenses are available through Kenton County’s Occupational License department. An annual business license and quarterly filing (payment of percentage of employee withholding) is required.

Starting in 2015, if you would like to burn brush or have a campfire, you will no longer need to come up to the firehouse to get a permit. Instead, just call the City of Taylor Mill Fire Department at (859) 581-6565 where your information will put entered in the Fire Department's log book.
Guidelines still apply:
Open Burn
- Permit will be for 7 days
- From the hours of 9am-5pm
- Must be 50 feet from a structure, or 25 feet in an approved burn container
- Winds must be below 10 mph
* NO burning during a state issued BURN BAN!
Campfire
- Campfires may be from 6pm - Midnight
- Permits are issued for 1 Night
- Fires can be no larger than 3 Feet in diameter
- Winds must below 10 mph
- Fire must be 50 feet from a structure, 25 feet if in an approved burn container
PLEASE NOTE: Burning of materials outside your home or business is only allowable between October 1 and April 1 with a burn permit. No burning is allowed from May 1 through September 30, as a state-wide ban is in effect during that time period.

The City of Taylor Mill requires a permit prior to holding a garage or yard sale. The permit allows 4 one-day sales or 2 two-day sales each year. The cost for the permit is $2.00 and can be purchased at the Taylor Mill Administration Department, located at 5225 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY 41015.

To obtain public records, you need to file an “open records request” with the Taylor Mill City Clerk that details the documents being requested. To make a request, you can:

The payroll tax for the City of Taylor Mill is 2% for individuals who work within the city limits of Taylor Mill, regardless of where you live.

The City of Taylor Mill typically mails annual tax bills to each homeowner in mid-October of each year. Tax payments are due by December 31st of each year. Tax bills cover a 12-month fiscal year from July 1st through June 30th, as opposed to a calendar year. Therefore, the tax bill covers July 1st of the current year through June 30th of the following year. Bills paid after the due date incur a 15% penalty and 15% per annum interest. There is no discount for remitting payment prior to the due date.
