No Knock Policy
Any resident who wishes to have their address placed on a list prohibiting uninvited solicitation on their property, please fill out a NO KNOCK registration form (see link below) and return form to the Taylor Mill Police Department, 5227 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY 41015 or fax to (859) 581-0220. This newly created list of “No Knock” addresses will be provided to the solicitor. If your address is on the "No Knock" list, and a solicitor presents himself at your residence, please get the name of the company they are soliciting for and contact the Taylor Mill Police Department at (859) 581-1192. Religious organizations, Scouts, school and athletic fundraisers do not need a license to solicit. Any solicitor who approaches a resident must present a copy of their Taylor Mill Solicitor/Peddler License that has been approved and issued to them by the City of Taylor Mill. Handicapped Parking Sign on City Street
If you are legally handicapped and your home does not have a driveway or other parking area, you can apply for a handicapped parking space in front of your residence through the Taylor Mill Police Department.
If awarded, this application must be renewed on a periodic basis.

Vacation Residential House Watch Program
Upon request, the Taylor Mill Police Department will inspect your home on a routine basis while you are away to help keep it secure. Most residents use the program when they are going to be away from their homes for an extended period of time, such as vacations, hospital stays or work trips.
Prior to leaving, please download the Vacation House Watch Form and return the completed form to the police department by mail or in person.
Upon your return, you will receive a written report from the Police Department, detailing the time and dates when we checked on your property, as well as an initial inspection report, suggesting security measures that you can take to protect your home during future trips.

Residential Property Inventory Program
The Taylor Mill Police Department encourages residents to protect electronics, jewelry and other expensive items in your home from theft. Recommendations include photographing and engraving each item and completing a Residential Property Inventory Form where you can list model and serial numbers. The photographs and inventory form should be kept in a safe place in your home. The department will also lend out engraving tools so you can mark items, which can assist in their recovery in the event of theft.

Speed Monitory Awareness Radar Trailer (SMART)
The Speed Monitory Awareness radar Trailer (SMART) is currently available for use in neighborhoods, school zones, construction sites, and dangerous roads where the speed of vehicles could be a problem. The unit is portable, self-contained speed display device that is towed to sites experiencing speed related problems. Specifically designed radar is mounted inside the locked trailer, clocking speeders. Motorists see their speeds displayed on a highly visible mounted electronic display. The speed limit sign below the display reminds motorists to pay attention and obey the posted speed limit.
As on-board computer collects information pertaining to date, time and speed of each vehicle that passes it. With this information, the police department is able to appropriately dispatch road officers on the right day and times to enforce speed limits.
As speed awareness goes up, motorists slow down even after the unit is moved to a different location. With fewer speed related accidents, officers’ time is freed up, and they can concentrate their efforts on other issues. Plus, citizens feel safer, which is what compliance with the speed limit is all about: safety.

Home Security Inspection
Upon request, the Taylor Mill Police Department will conduct a home security inspection inside and outside your residence to identify areas where security could be improved. The police department will use a checklist form to record data. Disclaimer: There are no guarantees the inspection will prevent crime.

Neighborhood Block Watch Program
One of the best crime prevention devices is a good neighbor. When neighbors join together and report suspicious activity, practice good security habits and are aware of crime and its effects, the chances of being a victim of crime are greatly reduced.
The Taylor Mill Police Department will help your neighborhood organize a Neighborhood Block Watch Program to help deter and report crime in your community. The department provides training for “Watch” volunteers and street signage and will help set up the first meeting.

Law Enforcement Exploring Program
The Taylor Mill Police Department offers a Law Enforcement Exploring program for young adults interested in exploring a career in law enforcement.
This comprehensive hands-on program is open to high school students who have completed the ninth grade and are ages 14-20. Training for Explorers ranges from routine traffic stops to crime scene search/investigation, bomb threat response and arrest and search techniques.
Explorers may aid in investigations, crime scenes, and traffic/crowd control in certain situations, provided all necessary training has been completed. Explorers also compete in local, regional, state and national competitions.
The Taylor Mill Police Explorer Post meets twice a month.
Explorers may participate in the department’s ride-a-long program after a six-month probationary period if they are 16 years of age and have passed all required tests.

Prescription Drug Drop-off Station
The Taylor Mill Police Department, in collaboration with the Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force, is committed to providing a safe, simple, secure, and environmental friendly way for Taylor Mill residents to safely and properly dispose of unwanted, unused, or expired household medications, prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, and veterinary medications.
The Prescription Drug Drop-off Station is located in the lobby of the Police Department and is available Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Pharmaceutical companies, medical offices, and home health organizations are strictly prohibited from using the box.
Needles, Syringes, Liquids, Vitamins, Breathing Equipment, or Personal Items are prohibited.

Ride A Long Program
The Taylor Mill Police Department allows interested citizens to ride in patrol cars with police officers to get a first-hand understanding of daily police work. Participants must be a Taylor Mill resident and at least 21 years old, with no prior criminal record.
Exception: Law Enforcement Explorers may participate in the program after a six-month probationary period if they are 16 years of age and have passed all required tests.

School Resource Officer (SRO) Program
School-based policing is the fastest growing area of law enforcement, according to the National Association of School Resource Officers. The goal of the School Resource Officer (SRO) program is to promote safer schools and safer kids through on-site law enforcement, education and counseling.
The Taylor Mill Police Department has a dedicated SRO assigned to Scott High School and Woodland Middle School. These police officers are specially trained for this position through the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training and are on site five days a week, eight hours a day.
