In case of fire, GET OUT OF THE HOUSE, AND STAY OUT. Stay low in smoke. Being lighter than air, smoke rises, leaving the cooler, cleaner air close to the floor. Shout to wake others in the home. Feel all closed doors. If they are hot, don't open them. The fire may be outside the door. Prearrange a family meeting place outside, so you can see that everyone is out of the house. If possible, one adult should go to a neighbor's house to call 911 for the fire department. Stay on the line until the dispatcher tells you that you can hang up. Never reenter a burning building. You could be easily overcome by smoke. Saving property, whether insured or not, is not worth your life or health. Practice fire drills with your family, so that everyone knows what to do in case of fire.
