A Walk in the Park

On the southern part of the City of Taylor Mill lies Pride Park. As you come into the main entrance you will see a cluster of flags (the United States and State of Kentucky) welcoming you. Located in the same area is a monument in progress to the Volunteer Fire Department. The bronze statue for the memorial has not been installed yet, but it portrays a volunteer firefighter interacting with a little boy. To the left is Park Place, our community center, and there are also three shelters situated throughout the park. The park itself encompasses eighty beautiful acres of rolling hills, trees, paved walking paths, several children’s playgrounds, and a basketball court. Further back in the park are unpaved paths for hiking or off the road biking.

The future of Pride Park also holds the beginning of an entertainment stage which will accommodate our events. The electric is already in place and a stage for concerts and other events will be built in the near future.

On any given day, one can see children playing, seniors meeting on certain Wednesdays at the community center, people strolling or walking their dogs through the vast beautiful terrain. The park provides a welcoming outdoor space for our community.

The shelters can be rented for family or other events. They each have picnic tables, a grill and restroom, plus a beautiful view of the park. Park Place can be rented as well. It contains a large indoor area that can accommodate parties, events, and all sorts of gatherings. Park Place has various amenities including a kitchen, and several rooms that can be set up in a variety of ways to accommodate most events. There are also TV’s, a large icemaker, an outside gazebo, and a corn hole court.

The City of Taylor Mill hosts a number of events at the park, including an Easter egg hunt in the spring, concerts, and movies in the summer, and even a visit from Santa Claus in December.

The spirit of the volunteers in our city permeates the park. From building memorials, to corn hole games, to planting flowers, painting benches, clearing brush, cleaning areas and so much more. They are citizens who want to contribute, boy scouts in need of an Eagle Scout project, seniors, teenagers and more. We are grateful to each of them for their time and efforts.

We are proud of our park and invite you to visit and you will see the heart of Taylor Mill is alive and well.
