(CALEA). The CALEA accreditation is a rigorous process that involves meeting a comprehensive set of professional standards designed to enhance the delivery of public safety services. Chief James Mills emphasized the significance of this accomplishment, stating, “Earning our fifth CALEA accreditation is a reflection of the dedication and professionalism of our officers and staff. This process ensures that we uphold the highest standards in law enforcement, which translates to safer neighborhoods and stronger trust with the community we serve.” According to Chief Mills, maintaining CALEA accreditation is vital for the Taylor Mill Police Department because it provides a framework for continuous improvement. “Accreditation helps us align our practices with the best in the field, ensuring that we stay proactive and responsive to the evolving needs of our residents. It’s not just about recognition; it’s about delivering the quality of service our community deserves.” The Taylor Mill Police Department first achieved CALEA accreditation in 2010, and this milestone marks its fifth consecutive accreditation cycle. The department is among a select group of agencies nationwide to receive this distinction, and one of only three in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, reinforcing its position as a leader in law enforcement excellence. The Taylor Mill Police Department extends its gratitude to the community for their support and partnership, which are essential to achieving this honor. The department remains committed to fostering transparency, building trust, and ensuring public safety for all.

Winter Weather/Snow Emergency Issued – January 12, 2018

We are continually monitoring the ongoing weather conditions impacting the City of Taylor Mill and the Northern Kentucky region overall.

As you know, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Warning through Saturday afternoon of this week. Snow accumulations are predicted to range from 3 to 4 inches and fall rapidly at times throughout the evening.

Hazards include:  Heavy Snow, Ice and Drifting Winds.

During this Winter Weather Event hazardous travel conditions are expected to develop due to slippery roadways as a result of snow, ice, winds and below freezing temperatures.

As a result of the weather conditions, a Snow Emergency has officially been issued for the City of Taylor Mill until noon on Saturday, January 13, 2018.

During a snow emergency “ON STREET” PARKING is PROHIBITED on ALL STREETS within the community.  Vehicles parked on the street pose a hazard to ALL emergency vehicles and their operators.  They also delay the timely treatment of roadways impacted by snow and ice.  Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated and also required by law.  Please plan ahead and make arrangements to park your vehicle(s) at an OFF STREET location for at least the next 24 to 48 hours. Vehicles that are not in compliance with the parking requirements of the snow emergency will be ticketed and/or towed.

We recommend that all residents know the risks associated with Severe Winter Weather and have in place winter weather emergency plans.  Check batteries in flashlights, radios and other devices.  Stock up on water and non-perishable food items.  If you have a generator, make sure it is working properly and that you are familiar with using it safely.  Be a good neighbor and offer assistance to elderly neighbors or other “at risk” individuals within your vicinity.

Thank you.
